What are Sikhs doing in Dubai?
Sikh community has a sizeable presence especially in Dubai and UAE as a whole. Mostly, they are employed in almost all types of occupations ranging from Doctors, Engineers, Accountants, Administrators, Salesmen, Drivers etc……But there is a significant presence of Sikh entrepreneurs as well mostly involved in trading, transport and construction, craftsmen related businesses.
Safety concerns?
Dubai/UAE is one of the safest, stable and moderate country in the world.
Are there any Gurudwara’s in UAE?
Yes, there are.

This is a dodra site or AKJ ? Dodra is non – Panthic so please if adding anything towards the Jatha – AKJ if tells Sangat – People that they are the same. Ive seen the picture on top of this site. Its from a AKJ Toronto Samagam. Dodra in US/Canada is not Panthic.
No rehit , Pyaar nothing. So daas dee Bentee do not promote anything with Dodra.
You should have done your research first.

Firstly, I would like to clarify this site is neither Pro-AKJ or Pro-Dodra. This is a Pro-Sikh site. Unfortunately, there are few Singhs like you who are pro-something and try to see things in your own Pro-way.
I am not sure what makes you think about Dodra sangat as anti-panthic. I have been myself to Dodra Sangat programs in India but have not felt anything but Kirtan, Simran, Sewa and Pyaar.
And, Please my intention over here is not to start debate as this is a non-partisan Sikh site. Please correspond to me at my personal ID.

It is still at least a year away from opening. Still construction is on at Gurudwara site.

I am a UK born Gursikh and wishing to visit Dubia. I am very concerned about the food availble, the fact is that I do not eat the so called Halal meat that is prepared in the Islamic way.
I am a however a meat eater and consumer all other meats except beef for some reason. Being british I can’t go without a traditional British breakfast. Can anyone advise me of whether I will be able to eat meat or will I have to turn to a vegiterian – which I find hard to convert to.

I heard a lot about Dodra sangat,so i went to attend the samgam and was amazed to see such a sangat in Kalyug.Fully devoted , true sikhs.I was overwhelmed to see that the samagm was full of laha and there is no natak baji and politics. Just Namm simram kirtan and lots of Pyaar.
I will try take leaves to attend the full annual samgam from 20th to 30Dec’09.
I recommend all the gursikhs to attend the samgams of Dodra sangat and stop taiking all the nonsense about this truely great Sangat.
I true apoligise fotr having inferior thoughts about this great sangat after hearing from others.
request all the nindaks to just once attend 1 samgam and i bet you will regret saying anything wrong about this sangat and you will to satgur ji to bless you to be part of this sangat
Dodra is the greatest Sangat i have ever witnessed
I agree with surinder Singh Dodra sangat is a amazing sangat full of Guru sahibs Kirpa and the Dodra samagams organised at Gurudwara Brahm Bunga Dodra are full of Laha, i have never being to such samagams in my entire life, AKj samagams are also good but these samagams are Top of the world.

Its good to see that there is website which gives updates on wts happening in dubai among the sikhs… i give the credit to the owner of this website who came up with this idea…
i am born and brought up here in dubai… and as i am growing, i can see there is hardly any youngsters who are well aware of what is sikhi (including me)!! we all instead just believe and talk what others know about sikhi is all about… but sometimes this information is not full or it is not properly explained as it is just hear say…
And sometimes there are things in sikhism, in our gurbani which we might be knowing by reading books and extra research etc, but our elders are not ready to listen.. y bcoz we r kids..instead i feel atleast we have done the effort of reading books on sikhism and done research and not like we r saying for the fact of saying after listening to others who also have heard from somewhere else!!
i personally feel that there should be group meetings for kids and for the elders to talk on wt sikhism is all about… every each topic is to be discussed in it… and not only this there should be teachings for kids to learn gurbani, and etc.. i did come across one of the events for kids in dubai on your website, i felt good… was a gr8 effort and would personally want to grow it and not leave it there only!!
and last i apologies if i have by mistake hurt anybodies feeling…but wtever i said is wt i felt!
please let me know if i can help in any task… and do let me know if there is anyone here, can teach gurbani (with translation)!

i studied in punjabi school i was very religious. during my teen age somehow i feel i became Irreligion. now i am 37 yrs. Now a days i have some feeling to back to my roots. i started enjoying shabad, gurbani, feel like going back to gurudwara. but i became very reserved. please help me to comeout from this dillema.

Re: Gurdwara in Jebel Ali
I read that the gurdwara is expected to open by April 2010 in anticipation of Baisakhi. Are you aware whether this deadline will be met? I would like to schedule my next trip to coincide with when this Gurdwara has opened. I’m not certain how up to date the website concerning its construction is.
As per my above comment on your website, i have created a group named “An effort to bring sikhism in UAE!!” on Facebook. its a social networking site and i have created it to get more and more suggestion/ ideas from people leaving in dubai.. have got few suggestions already and would like to invite you and sikhsindubai members to also join this group if they are on facebook and help in growing sikhism in dubai!
i believe this will also help the creator of this website to get more ideas from sikh people leaving in dubai.

As of now there is one Gurudwara in Bur Dubai, opposite Dubai Museum (backside of Mosque). The Gurudwara and Hindu Temple are in same premises.
Other than this there is one make shift Gurudwara in Jebel Ali. It is at the construction site of where new Gururdwara is being built. You can search for Jebel Ali Gurudwara on this website, you will find map and video related to that.
